Bottle Rock Napa: A California Music and Wine Event

May 9-12, 2013 brings Bottle Rock Napa to our town!  This 5-day, massive celebration of music, comedy, food, and drink is located just across the river from downtown at the Napa Valley Expo - about 2 miles away from the Old World Inn.

One-day event passes are $139.  Four-day VIP passes are $599.

Parking is $20 per day, and the "bottle bus" shuttles cost $29 per day.

The town of Napa has never hosted an event of this size (35,000 fans are expected).  While shuttles will run from remote parking lots, most locals are planning for one of the busiest weekends they've ever seen.

If you're staying with us anytime during these days (May 9 through 12, 2013), please contact us for tips on how to get around the traffic, and where to eat (with more than 30,000 extra people in town, all restaurants will be beyond capacity; many have been fully booked for weeks).

Eighty acts are scheduled for the event.  Some top names include:
  • The Black Keys
  • Kings of Leon
  • Zac Brown Band
  • Primus
  • Jane's Addiction
  • The Avett Brothers
  • Train
  • The Flaming Lips
  • The Black Crowes
  • Jackson Browne
  • Cake
  • Blues Traveler
  • Michael Franti and Spearhead
  • Joan Jett and the Blackhearts
  • And dozens of other national and local bands
40+ wineries and 30+ restaurants will be serving food on Bottle Rock festival grounds, so we are hoping this will take care of a large part of the hungry/thirsty concert-goers.

We want all of you to be prepared for late-night partiers celebrating at all hours, throughout the town of Napa.  While Napa does have very strict noise laws and quiet hours (after 10pm), we honestly don't know what will happen during Bottle Rock.  So we're planning for it to be L-O-U-D.  We're hoping things will quiet down a bit once the festival stops each day (around 2 or 3am), but this may not happen.

We are not sure how traffic will be affected in other parts of the Napa Valley.  If you have questions or concerns, call us at 707-257-0112.  If our phones are swamped, please leave your name and number with one of our off-site reservation agents, along with good times to call you back.

Please stay tuned to our Facebook page for all the latest info throughout the festival.

We want this to be a great event for everyone - including those who are *not* attending the festival.

Please note:  All Old World Inn guests must observe the standard quiet times of our inn, from 10:30 pm to 8:00 am, each day.

Napa now hosts several world-class events (like the Film Festival), so we know we can handle a lot of happy people.  We hope Bottle Rock will also become an annual event.  It's just hard to predict what will happen, since this is the first year of this event.

We'll see you soon!

Chef's Market: Food, Music & Fun in Downtown Napa

Have you ever experienced Napa's famous Chef's Market?

Imagine:
  • An amazing organic farmer's market,
  • Demonstrations from world-class chefs,
  • Lots of Napa Valley food, wine, and crafts,
  • Live music, and more!
Each Thursday (May 16 - August 1, 2013), Napa shuts down its main drag (First Street) to cars and has one giant street party from 5-9 pm.  All just a short 10-minute walk from the Old World Inn!

Admission is free and a great way to experience so many things Napa has to offer.

World-famous Napa Valley chefs conduct two cooking demonstrations each Thursday at 6:30 and 7:30 pm.  Stores and restaurants stay open later and have special deals.  Outdoor booths feature local Napa Valley artisans and craftspeople.

Take a leisurely walk through the Chef's Market, tasting your way through: just-picked organic fruit from local farmers, freshly-prepared hot nibbles from local Napa restaurants, and some amazing Napa Valley wine.  Some of Napa's world-famous food trucks roll in to tempt you with their incredible gourmet street food.  And dozens of local restaurants are within a block or two.  You'll find mouthwatering food everywhere.

To keep kids safe there is a separate family-friendly area off to the side, featuring hands-on crafts, a discovery center, face painting, and even some sweet treats.  Fresh kettle corn, anyone?  (free samples!)

Parking is free, but why drive?  It's a quick 10-minute walk from the Old World Inn.  After a hard day of wine tasting, relax and enjoy the warm summer breezes as you stroll through Napa's famous Chef's Market.

We'll see you soon!
